Some buildings ask to be rescued.
This one asked to be understood.
Over eight years, the new owners undertook a patient restoration of Palazzo Ventura. Not to reinvent it, but to honour what it had always been. Every detail was tended to with love and care. It was a bold dream. It was, by any measure, a labour of love.
The Duchess of Puglia is the result. Six suites, each named, each distinct: together the most intimate luxury address in Polignano a Mare, a town that has drawn discerning visitors since the ancient Greeks first gave it a name.
This palazzo is never quite finished. Each season brings small discoveries, lire coins hidden in the ancient stone, fragments of earlier paintwork, a hidden lintel, and forgotten keepsakes from previous noble residents. The building is treated as a living document of Puglian history.
The Duchess, its proud caretaker.
